BedRoom Portraits
We always make assumptions about a person's character and identity based on how they look, but how can we learn about a person through their bedrooms and the objects they own? I believe that a bedroom is a replication of the mind. Whenever I've visited someone's house or someone's room it feels like I'm entering their brain. Lots of rooms can feel inviting and some not as much. But when they decorate their room, organize it in a certain way you can see who they are. The specific intentions or actions made for a room truly says “this is who I am”. They try to make something theirs by designing their rooms in a way that comforts them. And comforts vary. Throughout this project I wanted to explore various bedrooms, and look into different ways of comfort and how that shapes one's identity. Using textiles, photography, and writing, I created a “portrait” using their rooms and objects by turning them into a collage. This Project was understanding how trust, comfort and identity align through a different way of expression.
